Slow Me Down.

My neighbor Tom was moved to inpatient hospice care Friday evening.  Our little neighborhood is in a waiting place.
Sunday afternoon in our neighborhood
When I find myself failing to notice the beauty of a moonlit night, the abundance of harvests fruits and vegetables, the perfection of clouds agains a blue sky, slow me down and give me gratitude and reverence for all your gifts.
~ from my Lenten devotion, p. 57

I started a shawl for my friend Renie (Tom's wife). Knitting Kidsilk Haze on size 5 needles ... is certainly slowing me down. I didn't realize quite how perfect the project was until I read those words this morning.

Sending wishes for peace and healing for all concerned. The end is always difficult, but hospice has provided my family with everything we needed (and many wonderful things we didn't even know we needed) for three family members. They are very special people, and I hope Tom and Renie will benefit from the care, peace, and comfort they provide.

I'm sorry about your friend Tom. I think it's lovely that you are doing so thoughtful for Renie, and I know you will feel the benefits of your meditative knitting time, too.

I am so sorry for the loss of Tom for both you and to your community. I just lost a very dear friend and hospice was wonderful in her last hours. My heart is with you as you find balance and peace.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend, but hospice care is so wonderful, at least his family won't have to worry that he isn't getting whatever he needs. Slowing down and thinking about the value of life, love, and friendship will definitely make that shawl even lovelier. Take care.
