Tuesdays with Charlie | Big Trucks.

Today's library outing got off to a weird start. The first book that Charlie chose featured the Jewel Fairies and a costume ball. The second was about Strawberry Shortcake (I didn't know she had books) and had a good message, but saying "berry" in place of "very" started to bother me a lot by the end.

I was happy to spot the 75th anniversary edition of Mike Mulligan and that's the book we brought home. We both enjoyed the story. I have a new appreciation for the book, too; I love how the words and illustrations play together on the pages. Matthew Broderick narrates a bonus free download. Highly recommended all around.

After nap, we took a walk to check out the construction site next door. Marc had suggested Charlie might find the new driving range "fun and interesting" and he was right. Excavators, dump trucks, bulldozers and tractors. If it hadn't started to rain, we probably could've stayed for an hour.

Hoping next week's weather is nice. I might bring chairs.

Happy Tuesday!

That's exactly what we used to do when we found a good construction site - take chairs and snacks! I'm glad you have such great diggers next door!

hahaha! That's so awesome about the construction site. As for the children's books, yeah, not all picture books are great quality.

It is so important to guide our little ones to books we don't mind reading over and over!

Mike Mulligan is one of my favorite books! I, too, love the way the words play with the image on the page. The artwork is beautiful, which always made me happy as I was reading to my kids. Something for everyone involved! And, even my girls loved watching the big trucks and back hoes!

My mind went right back to my brother's love of big machinery. Hope the weather improves and Charlie gets to watch the big machines.

And bring your knitting! And toy trucks for Charlie! When I took Junah to the park the other day, he had a little truck in both hands and happily played with them before, during, and after playing on the bigger equipment. Then, on our way in for frozen custard, he stopped to play in a little exposed dirt around some bushes... who cares about frozen treats!?!! Haha.

Serendipity?! 75 years! A driving range so close to home! Heaven! This is the best and it's so wonderful you've captured it for Charlie and shared with us!
Cheers~
and yes, do take chairs and your knitting...

We have a very old copy of that book-can't wait to see if you get to spend more time next week at the work site.

I spent so many hours scoping out construction sites with Brian! He LOVED the trucks, Trucks, TRUCKS. And, yeah, some of those children's books? Not so much!

We also spent a lot of time at construction sites! It was a Saturday morning ritual. I've got to buy a kids book for a shower this weekend...your Tuesdays have given me ideas!
