Be a Good One.

a favorite page from the book we gave Sara
...wise words from a wise man. and fitting advice for the newest Georgia Tech alum to join our family. yep, Sara graduated* on Saturday with three generations of Tech graduates to cheer her on.

We got there early enough to get seats with a good view...and plenty of time for a few "this is happening now" posts on Instagram.
proud parent selfie!
The ceremony moved quickly and I didn't even get a clear shot of Sara moving across that stage (my dad had the brilliant idea to aim his camera at the big screen instead of the stage and he did much better).
yeah, she's there somewhere walking across the stage!

Then it was over, the white & gold balloons fell...

...and after a quick photo session (with other people's cameras) we came back to the house for a full-on family celebration. We had a ball... and a few photo opportunities...and I got one of my favorite photos of the day.
My dad, Class of 1961, and Sara, Class of 2014
While Saturday was busy, Sunday was much more low-key. Just the immediate family for dinner at Bistro VG. I'm not positive, but I think this might've been the first time just the five of us were out together. We had a great time and I hope we can make it more of a habit than a one-time thing.

Another Georgia Tech family.  I can only hope I get to be in my dad's shoes 23 years from now...when our first grandson graduates!

post-weekend, Sara's moved out of her apartment and her furniture is "in storage" in our basement. She's interviewing and cautiously optimistic she'll be leaving the South sometime soon to see what life looks like in other places. And until then, we leave for Paris and then Florence tomorrow...

*note that no one says they graduate from Georgia Tech...they "get out"!

Congratulations to Sara, and to you and Marc, too! Nice to have so many generations connected to Georgia Tech. My Dad and his father are both MIT grads. My grandfather spent quite a bit of time in Georgia in the late 1920's and had quite a few Ga Tech friends! Those engineers stuck together! Have a fabulous trip! Bon Voyage!
