Travel Knitting.

I have two trips coming up this month and anticipate a good bit of time for knitting, but nothing too hard. My brain still isn't ready for much beyond stockinette...and I'm hoping I have a few distractions to occupy me, too!
Fort Tryon Wrap

So when I saw the Fort Tyron Wrap, the first "mystery reveal" in Kirsten's 10th anniversary bundle, this morning, I started thinking. A long strip of garter stitch, a few (hundred!?! that will require some good light and not too many distractions!) picked up stitches and then more garter. with color choices. and plenty of options to substitute different yarns. sounds perfect!

I need warm weather accessories that are easy to wear. The 3-color cowl I knit in Shibui Twig last spring has been one of my favorite pieces and I'd love to knit this one in Twig, too. I called the shop and consulted with Marci about the options. We decided on Fog and Tar.
Fog at the top and Tar at the bottom. yes, it's gray and gray!

Twig is listed as a sport weight yarn and I haven't knit it at a looser gauge. But I think I'm just going to pack the yarn and size 7 needles and hope for the best. I'll cast on Wednesday morning, en route to NYC.

Kirsten notes that the pattern is named for one of her favorite places in NYC, Fort Tryon. I haven't been there, but the map shows it's way far north of where we're planning to be. Still, wouldn't it be fun to grab a photo of my WIP and the actual namesake site? ...stay tuned!

The Cloisters, an amazing museum, is located in Fort Tyron Park and is well worth visiting.

I was just looking at this pattern yesterday!! I love what you picked to knit it in! (I'm partial to grays!!) I just ripped out something I had started in Twig and am not liking. Maybe I'll try this! Have a wonderful trip!

I love those colors, it's been hard to steer clear of them for my recent Shibui knit, but managed to keep it to just ONE project.
