remains of the day.
...finished at about 1:30 a.m. not because the book kept me up that long, but because Sara and the tv woke me at 12:22 a.m. and I couldn't get back to sleep. This book (by Kazuo Ishiguro) had been on my nightstand for weeks. Slow going for some reason. Set in 1950's England. The main character, a butler named Stevens, tells the story in a series of flashbacks to the 1920's and 1930's. It made me sad in a way. Stevens missed the boat on some big things - the way he saw/related to the world in his butler role really limited how he lived his life. This is likely not a book I'd pick for bookclub!
So the big question now - what to read next?? (stay tuned to the sidebar)
