Still Distracted.

It turns out my mind (and my body for that matter) no longer functions too well on less than two hours of sleep. I just watched Hillary's concession speech and I'm in awe of how put together she looks and how well she spoke - because I can't imagine she had any more sleep than I did. and surely she's changed out of the clothes she wore yesterday, showered and dressed...which is more than I've managed so far... so no more whining.  (and just as soon as I publish this post - a shower!)

I've been reading Yarn Along posts from a few of y'all (AsKatKnits, Juliann and of course Ginny herself) for a while now and I'm glad I planned to join in this week. Because an easy blog post is a good one right now!

I'm knitting VersaciKnits' No Tails (which is really similar to Tails except...no tails :-), a cowl neck and long sleeves). Lots and lots of straight stockinette has been wonderful company; I had to set it aside last night when I got to the shaping - didn't trust myself on those M1's. But I'm ready to pick it up again this afternoon.

And I'm listening to In the Woods and loving it. I'm sure most of y'all have already read - and enjoyed - this one and the half dozen other books Tana French has written. I resisted her books for years because I thought they'd be too scary. Oh well - I'm glad I finally dove in and now I have backlist to keep me busy for a while.

Happy to finally join in with Ginny - and look forward to reading about lots of knitting and good books over there.

I've also been at loose ends and distracted all morning. I had some sleep, but none after 3 am when I checked results. But at least I can smile at the clever, simple pattern naming of No Tails, and be excited that you are listening to In the Woods. I recently listened and have Strong Opinions. I'm looking forward to yours when you're done.

I think I'll be reading a lot in the coming days - anything as a distraction from reality.

I am sort of thankful to be at work today, but how much "work" is actually getting done is another matter entirely. One of the things that makes it bearable today, of all days, is that my usually Republican party-line-voting boss is (almost) as dazed, shocked, and confused as I am over what transpired yesterday. And it's sunny outside. I've never read any Tana French books... that may change!

"Never stop believing that fighting for what’s right is worth it."

I know what happened last night was not right. I know then that we have to continue fighting, starting now.

I was awake most of the night following the process, and sm feeling weary and dazed myself. After Brexit, I feel wobbled all over again. Thinking of you all ... And a good book sounds just right :).

Wed with Ginny sounds right up your alley...enjoy and yep, a great blog post. Let's see: that leaves 21 yet to do, right?!
We all operate on too little sleep...and I guess we're in training for a totally new normal... Hillary's speech was over the top, as she should've been.
Cheers~

My perspective is very different as I approach the 1year passing of PJ. The more I comments read the more I care less about who won or lost. No one person controls this country. Maybe it's the prosecco talking, but I am DONE! Aside from that rant- In the Woods was my first dip into French and I loved it. I'm on my 3rd (2nd in the series)- so addictive

I thought Hillary was - as she has been this entire campaign - uplifting, encouraging, and validating. I could not muster a yarn along post yesterday, I could not pick up any knitting until late last night. Bravo for you for doing so! And, wow!! You are cruising on No Tails!

I love Tana French's books! Not scary at all, really. Just deep character development mixed in with some snappy detective work! XO

I have read all of French's books and was hooked from the first. I like the way so many questions are left unanswered.
