Getting Close.

...to two finishes! Fiona Coat and Hidden Figures. I'm sure I'll finish the book first, but hopefully the sweater coat will be a close second.

I started the book on my drive home Sunday; it's excellent. I've mostly been listening (Robin Miles' narration is wonderful) but I've read a few pages on my iPad, too. I'll have more to say about the book once I finish it.

The book has been the perfect accompaniment to round after round of ... sleeves. I pulled this project back out (after ten months of hibernation) just before Christmas, but all I did until the New Year was figure out where I was. Sleeve #1 took nearly two weeks and sleeve #2 is - thankfully - going much faster (probably because it's getting nearly all my knitting attention these days!)

Joining up again with Ginny. Head over to her blog for plenty of knitting and reading inspiration.

Happy Wednesday!

Stockinette for Days.

...pretty much sums up my knitting. And I'm really ok with that! So yep, still knitting No Tails.  The back is done and blocked; this is the the front. Which will hopefully go fast, because there are also two sleeves, a cowl neck and a couple of seams to go.  I'm still hoping to wear it "over Thanksgiving", which I'm loosely interpreting to mean sometime next week 😉 (whoa - look! blogger added emoji support!)

I've been watching a lot of Gilmore Girls (less than 10 days now until the new episodes drop!), but I'm doing a little reading on my iPad. This is Belgravia, by Julian Fellowes. It's ok, but honestly not nearly as entertaining as Lorelei and Rory (nor as Downton Abbey in its good days).

and a little reading on my phone. The plot has taken a few twists and turns that took me by surprise and I can't wait to see how it ends... hopefully this morning!

Linking up again with Ginny and looking forward to seeing what everyone else is knitting and reading this week.

Happy Wednesday!

Still Distracted.

It turns out my mind (and my body for that matter) no longer functions too well on less than two hours of sleep. I just watched Hillary's concession speech and I'm in awe of how put together she looks and how well she spoke - because I can't imagine she had any more sleep than I did. and surely she's changed out of the clothes she wore yesterday, showered and dressed...which is more than I've managed so far... so no more whining.  (and just as soon as I publish this post - a shower!)

I've been reading Yarn Along posts from a few of y'all (AsKatKnits, Juliann and of course Ginny herself) for a while now and I'm glad I planned to join in this week. Because an easy blog post is a good one right now!

I'm knitting VersaciKnits' No Tails (which is really similar to Tails except...no tails :-), a cowl neck and long sleeves). Lots and lots of straight stockinette has been wonderful company; I had to set it aside last night when I got to the shaping - didn't trust myself on those M1's. But I'm ready to pick it up again this afternoon.

And I'm listening to In the Woods and loving it. I'm sure most of y'all have already read - and enjoyed - this one and the half dozen other books Tana French has written. I resisted her books for years because I thought they'd be too scary. Oh well - I'm glad I finally dove in and now I have backlist to keep me busy for a while.

Happy to finally join in with Ginny - and look forward to reading about lots of knitting and good books over there.
