Our Week in Florida.

riding shotgun
Holly and I spent last week in Florida visiting my mom. In case you're wondering why we'd drive to central Florida in August, here's why!

It's my mom's birthday,
a birthday toast
homemade banana-orange ice cream for dessert
knitting and baseball go very well together!
I never even knew about the LLWS, but my mom says she's been watching it for years.  This is my third time and I have to say I'm a fan. I didn't keep count of how many games we watched over the week, but I'd guess close to 20! It's baseball with heart... and now that I have little boy(s ... soon there will be two!) in my life I've added a trip to Williamsport to my bucket list.

Apparently Katie hasn't seen the LLWS either!

So there was plenty of good wine, food, baseball and knitting. And also a long list of to-do's with my mom (Alaska trip planning, sorting through files and more files, and a few other lingering tasks since my dad passed away).

Of course there were also daily walks with lots of blue skies (not so great, really - they need rain desperately),
from Thursday's walk
only one scary alligator sighting,
from Wednesday's walk
and Friday night happy hour with Mother's girlfriends.
such great sports to pose for a photo (I had to promise it wouldn't end up on Facebook ;-)

...all too soon it was time to head home.
late Sunday morning
I will say traveling on Sunday is about as good as it gets. I've got lots to catch up on...good thing it's only Monday!

Have a great week!

  1. I'm glad you had a good week and a Happy Belated Birthday to your mother! I drove through South Williamsport and past Lamade Stadium last weekend and the traffic was incredible. My advice for eight years from now: make your reservations far, far in advance, get there early so you can find a parking place and walk safely along Rt. 15, and have your hill chairs! http://wnep.com/2016/08/23/chairs-made-just-for-little-league/

  3. It looks like a good trip - I'm glad Holly got to go along!

We have been watching the LLWS for a few years, and I love it. Last year, a local team was the runner-up American team, and it was just so much fun around here. Glad that all went well.

  4. Sounds like a fun week with your Mom! Be sure to let me know if you come to Williamsport! A little far from my house, but still in PA! It's close to the place where we got our dog, Lucie.

  8. Looks like your trip was just grand and the ice cream dessert celebrating your mom's birthday looks delish! I didn't know about LLB either - will share with Dolly tho' I think Chris is destined to be a race car driver...his face lights up when he's behind the wheel! Time will tell. Enjoy Tuesday with Charlie.
    Cheers~

  9. How nice you could be with your mother for her birthday. Having you there must have been a real treat for her. LLWS is fun to watch! I didn't get a chance to see much this year, but it really is baseball with a BIG heart! Love seeing Holly!
