Giving up.

...can be a good thing. Last August, I shared this photo on Instagram.

Give (up. pony tail not ever gonna happen in this lifetime. freeing.)

Yep, a new, shorter 'do. Since then, I've had trims, but no "cuts". That 'do was growing out. Apparently, I really hadn't given up.

Today, though, I'm officially surrendering (hey, it's on the blog now, right?!).

From here on out, I will be getting regular haircuts (along with color - I'm not giving that up for a few more years!) and celebrating the natural look.

...also enjoying a bit more free time. What would you do with an extra 15-20 minutes each day?

  1. Your hair really looks great, and just think how much knitting you can get done in the extra hour a half you've gained each week!

  2. Adorable cut, Mary! When I find a spare 15-20 minutes, I usually read! (And . . . just think what you might do with the extra cash you'd acquire by letting go of the color! Just sayin. . . )

  3. Love the shorter more natural look. It suits you! An extra 15 has me reading or catching a stitch if I can. (Think about what Kym has to say....I love the freedom of no color.)

  4. You look good with short hair! I've been growing mine and I love it longer so that I can put it up or wear it down depending on how much time I have. Like Kym and Margene, I'd use those extra minutes to read. And I think I'm not going to color my hair. I've got some gray coming in and I kind of like it. Of course, I say that now . . . who knows when there's more!

  5. I like your hair - though admittedly,I am a fan of shorter hair. Yours looks like it has nice body and waves to it.

I wonder if anyone is ever really happy with their hair, you know?

  6. Love the look Mary! I tried to grow out the gray earlier this year and couldn't do it. It just wasn't white or bright enough. (Though quite plentiful!) And that 15 minutes - reading or knitting for certain!

  7. Naturally curly hair is "in" this year, so you are ahead of the game! Since I have finally found a cut I like, I'll be maintaining it with regular visits to the hair dresser. I'm thinking all over color next time, so we'll see. If I had an extra 10-15 minutes I'd either read, knit or enjoy a cup of coffee out of a real cup before work.

  8. I love both! But going gray really is freeing! Mine is the longest it has ever been; love ponytails and braids!

  9. Love the style and the color! Both look great on you! Funny, I just decided -using that term loosely- to let my hair grow so I could wear it up or pull it back. My sister doesn't think I will...and she's probably right. Time will tell.
    P.S. Great selfie!

Thanks for the feedback!
