Five Things | The Story Behind the Photo.

Starbucks, 12:27 pm on Saturday, November 12
1. This is my first Red Cup of the season. I thought it would be Thursday, when I had my first Holiday Spice Flat White (and got to introduce my favorite holiday coffee treat to Katie), but that Starbucks was only using Red Cups for Grande and Venti drinks. (also, Starbucks has outdone themselves with the Red Cups this year; I wonder how many of them I can collect?!)

2. Across the table is my friend Penny, who moved from Atlanta to Birmingham almost three years ago. She's in town for the weekend - to visit friends, not family - and it was a special treat to have her at the table.

3. I'm knitting No Tails (pretty much monogamously :-)

4. I took the photo shortly after we all sat down - that row counter you can't quite read shows "61" ... thirteen more rows (175 stitches each) until the little bit of back neck shaping - and then the back is done!

5. Four of us (Becca, Penny, Kim and me) were sitting around the table, knitting, talking and drinking coffee.  We did chat a little about politics at the beginning (Penny and Becca had been to see Marianne Williamson last night and they had much to share about the event), but mostly we didn't. We talked about Kim's son's upcoming wedding, little Sam (and his family), what we're going to knit next, the struggles with our current knitting projects, families, sewing projects, and so much more.

That row counter now reads "74" ... time for the neck shaping - and then blocking to be sure my gauge is on track before I start the front!  (I'm starting to think this sweater might just be ready for Thanksgiving...unless I just jinxed myself by saying that?)

Here's to the stories that might not get told. and to friends, knitting and coffee! I hope your Saturday includes a few of those wonderful things, too!

Such a pretty cup. I look forward to trying the holiday spice FW, I do love the regular FW so this will be a real treat. I finished the Rivington Cowl which is now blocking! Decided to frog a sweater that is "done", but just isn't good. Hate that I've wasted all that knitting time, but thems the breaks-right. 2 very long walks with Sophie under blue skies and crisp temps. Thinking of new traditions I may want to start.

Sounds fun! I spent part of the afternoon knitting on the couch with my daughter. Well, she was weaving in ends but it was lovely.

How lovely that you have good friends that you can chat about politics with, and then move on to other important things in your lives (and still be friends). Do you believe I've never once had coffee at Starbuck's? One just opened here last year and that Holiday Spice Flat White is giving me a reason to consider it. I'm almost afraid to in case I like it too much!

Your day sounds terrific! I've spent the weekend on the Cape w two friends. It's our annual shopping trip. (I didn't buy a thing! ) We always stop at Starbucks on the way home - now I know I'll have a new experience this morning!!

Sitting chatting with friends and drinking coff while you knit sounds such a comforting activity. A very festive cup! Your certainly speeding ahead with that knitting.

Such lovely cups! I rarely go to Starbucks, preferring my local coffee shops instead. We have some great independent, local coffee shops here in Kalamazoo -- so not too many Starbucks. (Although there is one tucked right inside my local grocery store. If I grab a Starbucks, it's usually while I'm shopping.) I hope you'll share more of your cup collection as we move through the season.

I have, so far, amassed 3 cups: 2-red and the prelude - green one. So very nice to sit n' stitch with friends over a cup o' hot holiday beverage. I enjoyed joining in, if only vicariously.
Cheers~

I don't drink coffee, but the red cup collection sounds very enticing!

As I think I've told you before, I don't have a Starbucks that's convenient to me but I do have LOTS of Dunkin Donuts. I'm not sure what their Christmas cups will look like this year but I'll be watching!
