Tuesdays with Charlie | Sweater Weather.

Yes!

Nothing makes a Marmie-knitter's heart sing more than a little one asking to wear his new sweater ... zipped up. and with the hood on. Good thing it was chilly this morning, because he wore it the whole time.

First, for story time

- love how well that hood stays put!

And then for "coffee" (aka warm milk with a half pump of vanilla in a Red Cup ... just like Marmie :-)

He did take it off for lunch. and nap. but it was right back on - zipped up with the hood on when I drove him home this afternoon.

The pattern is Tanis Lavalee's R&R Hoodie, knit in her PureWash Worsted in the Charcoal colorway. Loved the pattern (clear instructions, subtle details, seamless) and the yarn (great stitch detail and obviously close-to-skin soft). I knit it pretty much as written (my minor modifications are listed on my project page), but my gauge - once I washed and dried the sweater - was a little looser. This is the 2-4 size and Charlie is wearing all 2T clothes these days. I think the sweater fits great with a bit of room, but I'm not sure he'll be able to wear it next fall. Good thing it was a quick knit! (honestly the zipper was the hardest part - and even that wasn't all that hard).

Knitting something great is rewarding, but when they ask to wear it, that is the BEST! Good thing it's washable as I'm betting it will get a lot of wear. Charlie might need the next size up for spring!

What a smart garment - I want one just like it, hood and all! Charcoal is one of my favourite colours It fits so nicely, doesn't it ... My mum knitted a super one for my son when he was little and he would wear the hood up indoors and out, so cosy it was!
