Currents | May.

just now. on the porch. because it's pouring ... and I forgot to take this photo earlier today when the sun was out.
Are you finding it hard to believe it will be June next week? I am. and I guess that means it must be time to share a little slice of my life. right now.

Saying Yes to Summer! I know it's barely spring where many of y'all live, but around here, school's out Thursday, then it's Memorial Day weekend (and I'm already wearing sleeveless) ... I'm ready! (even though we had a very short spring ... I laughed out loud to read that last month, I was still waiting for it to arrive!)

Loving my unplugged mornings. I'm now several months into the habit and I don't even think about looking at my laptop until after my first (or second) cup of coffee and some quiet time with my journal and maybe a book.

Planning the next year for our Women's Ministry. Thank you for all your good thoughts about finding a new co-lead; it hasn't happened (yet). My first meeting as Moderator is June 3 - and I had a little panic attack this morning when I realized that was NEXT weekend (such is the life of a retired business woman, I guess 😉)

Eating more than "just snacks". I read Marc a few of the comments from yesterday's post and he said "well, it is still a lot more vegetables than protein" to which I replied "as it should be". Saturday night we roasted fish and made "fish taco salad". Sunday night he made edamame pasta salad with broccoli, spinach and tomatoes. (and um, yeah, we haven't been to the grocery store since the week before last.)

Drinking grapefruit juice and tonic (with gin).

Watching The Americans (we should finish Season 2 tonight) and Patrick Melrose (I watched Episode 2 today - Benedict Cumberbatch should win all the Emmys for his performance and I do think the rest of the series shouldn't be nearly so dark ... because I've read the books and Sara promises the script follows pretty closely).

Needing a really good landscape plan (and an excellent contractor to execute it). We've lived in our house for nearly six years and we've been putting up with what the builder installed. It hasn't aged well (the front beds are overgrown and the backyard is a mud puddle). Now that Marc has time, we're ready to fix it. But whoa, it's been hard even to get someone to come out to look. We met this morning with the guy who helped with our old house and we're hopeful.

Wanting to find a really good match for the "book that matches a WIP" for the top left corner of my Bingo card.

Looking forward to seeing Sara next month!

Enjoying morning walks at the park with Lauren. or to the lake with Marc.

Remembering all the Memorial Days I spent with my family; we're changing up the family reunion to be Labor Day this year. I cannot remember the last Memorial Day weekend I spent at home. wonderful memories. new traditions.

Hoping (again) the upcoming election season doesn't get as nasty as I think it might. After today's primary, we'll likely have at least one unpleasant runoff ... and then it will be full-on campaigning until November. ugh. ugh. and ugh.

Wishing that the weather improves enough so Marc can play golf. I do love having him around, but all that works best when he can be gone for a while, too.

Saying Thank You to all of you for your tremendous response to this year's Book Bingo!!

What are you Saying Yes! to right now?

Currents | April.

Saying Yes to "YES!". This beautiful reminder of my 2018 intention arrived in yesterday's mail, together with a sweet note from Honoré 😘. I placed it front and center on my desk where I can see it every morning as I journal...reflecting on yesterday, grateful for today, and planning for tomorrow.

Loving slower mornings and coffee with Marc during the week. Most mornings that means a second pot of coffee ... and just this week I've learned that is better as decaf!

Planning my next few knitting projects. I wound yarn today for two and swatched for one. I also did a major organize/purge of my stash and it feels really good!

Eating salads with lean protein (gah, still!) ... and popcorn.

Drinking red wine (gah, still!).

Watching Bosch. and Homeland. and hoping to start Howard's End and the latest season of Call the Midwife soon.

Needing to find a Vice Moderator to join our women's ministry leadership team. This year I'm the Vice Moderator, and next year I move into the Moderator role; I need someone to take my current role. We've approached half a dozen women so far ... the conversations aren't easy for this introvert ...  and I'm getting discouraged.

Wanting SPRING! I know many of y'all are seeing snow and much colder temperatures than we have here. But this is Georgia. in late April. it's supposed to be Spring!

Enjoying wearing make-up again. I went to Bobbi Brown last Thursday and replaced what I had to throw away (thanks to pink eye). It was freeing to go make-up free for so long, but I do like myself better with at least a touch of mascara.

Hoping the upcoming election season doesn't get as nasty as I think it might.

Wishing for a round trip ticket to NYC this summer. Sara's contract in Atlanta ended last week and I'm not sure when she'll be back here. Seems like I need to go there.

Saying Thank You for all of you (and especially those of you who take the time to comment). This space is a very special part of my life and I'm glad you're part of it ... and that you've let me be part of yours.

Looking forward to Beaufort 2018! We leave Thursday and return Monday. I look forward to a real weekending post, for sure!

I hope you have something good to look forward to this week ... please share!

Currents | January.

It's been way too long since I wrote a currents post; I'm definitely saying "yes" to this kind of documentation!

from this morning's journal time
Saying Yes to optimism.

Loving all the amaryllis! (special shout outs to my sister Karen, sister-in-law Lydia, Margene and Kym)

Remembering my dad

Planning for Month of Letters. If you'd like to be my pen pal, please let me know in the comments!

Eating leftovers. and not complaining!

Drinking 19 Crimes. I opened a bottle last night and found a new-to-me cork - #7! (if you're following along, that means I only need three more - 3, 10 and 12 - to have all 19.)

Watching Night Manager with Marc (we watched the first two Saturday and he's promised me #3 this evening) and Grace & Frankie with my knitting (I'm three episodes into season 4 and enjoying it just as much as the first three).

Listening to the wind chimes sing on the front porch.

Needing to find six five liturgists for our Gifts of Women service in March (yay! I saw one of my "nominees" this afternoon and she said yes!)

Wanting to nail down my 18 for 2018 (thanks, Kym and Carole, for the inspiration!)

Looking forward to seeing Sara twice this spring. Her next assignment starts next week - and it's in Atlanta! She has two trips here planned over the next three months (and it's really nice that her customer is in Vinings - close to Katie, too).

Enjoying spending time with mom and helping her get settled. I imagine we'll be  simply "ladies who lunch" (and don't have bank errands before and multiple trips to Office Depot, followed by a bit of handyman-ing after) by the time spring comes 😀.

Learning about Eleanor Roosevelt. My Friday morning small group is reading Eleanor: A Spiritual Biography. What a remarkable woman!

Wishing Katie (turning 31 on Saturday) and Karen (turning 51 next Tuesday) the happiest of birthdays!

I'll be back tomorrow to talk about knitting and reading. Good thing those updates are weekly!

Happy Tuesday!
